Fresh truffles are very delicate. One of the common questions we get from buyers is how to store them after they arrive.
Unlike products truffles keep changing after they are picked. If not stored correctly they can lose their smell quickly.
Basic Storage Method
The common way is to wrap each truffle in paper and put it in a sealed container in the fridge.
The temperature should be around 2–4°C. Do not freeze if you plan to sell or use it as fresh.
Change Paper Daily
Truffles naturally give off moisture. If the paper gets wet replace it. This helps prevent spoilage.
Shelf Life
Fresh truffles are best used within 7 days after arrival. Some customers can make them last around 15 days with handling but the smell will slowly fade.
For Distributors
If you are reselling it is crucial to plan your logistics and sales timing of time. Fresh truffles are not suitable for storage, like dry goods.
